I'm goin' down to Mexico
Where all the bad guys and banditos go
Gonna buy me a horn and have a blow
Down in Mexico

I'm goin' down that Rio Grande
Gonna join me a mariachi band
Lie in bed and live off the land
Down that Rio Grande

Gonna get me a Magnum and a Colt 44
Blow away anyone who comes to my door
And a Saturday Night Special for goin' into town
To deal with any shit that's goin' down

I'm goin' down to Mexico
Gonna sit and watch that river flow
Yeah, that's where I'm gonna go
Down to Mexico

1. Going To Mexico
(McGowan) As I listen to this now I can hear at least 400 songs and artists that have influenced it. Tom Waits, Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Saturday Night Special'; Dylan's 'Watching the River Flow' ; Steve Forbert's 'Mexico' bits of 'The Alamo' film - and I only wrote it because Mark left his electric guitar at my place overnight and I made a mistake and picked it up. I don't know if there is a Colt 44 - I know there's a Magnum, because Clint Eastwood says so. Is the Rio Grande in Mexico? Geography was never my strong point. If not, then I apologize for wasting your time by going somewhere when I don't even know where it is. --Davy

How the hell can Davy sing more than 10 seconds with all that snot in his throat - that's something I can't. I cannot hear 400 artists on this but it's kind of familiar, of course. Very well played - good enough to be an opening track -- Jore
